Led by saxophonist and composer Nick Roth, Yurodny perform contemporary interpretations of traditional music from around the world and work in collaboration with performers and composers who similarly embrace the re-imagining of tradition with vitality and contemporaneity.

In 2013 the Yurodny Ensemble received the EU Presidency Award from Culture Ireland as part of an international programme celebrating Ireland’s tenure of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which included headlining performances at the Songlines Encounters Festival in Kings Place London and a Scandinavian tour of the ground-breaking Yurodny SciLens programme.

More recent highlights have included numerous critically-acclaimed appearances including France (Paris Fête de la Musique to 7,500 people), Norway (Transform World Music Festival with Stian Carstenson) and Switzerland (GAIA Chamber Music Festival) as well as a riotous outing on the Main Stage of Electric Picnic 2015.

2016 saw performances at the Paris International Beckett Festival, the premiere of a new staged work Sailing to Byzantium by renowned Turkish composer Onur Turkmen at the Ankara International Festival, and the release of their long-awaited 3rd album on Diatribe Records ‘Haivka’ with collaborations from leading Ukrainian electroacoustic composer Alla Zagaykevych and a vocal ensemble from the Carpathian mountains.
