Take part in Dance & Choral Workshops at Hotter Than July 2018
Our annual ‘world’ music festival HOTTER THAN JULY is coming up soon (29th July), and we are delighted to announce opportunities for members of the public to take part in dance and choral workshops and perform at the festival on Sunday 29th July in Smithfield Square, with thanks to the support of Creative Ireland, Dublin City Council, Kerry County Council and Dancehouse.
Hotter Than July is a free to the public, high-quality, family-friendly world music festival, which celebrates the cultural diversity of Dublin city and it’s communities through music and dance from around the globe.
It’s a great day of fun and community, and everyone is welcome to get involved via our workshops!
There are 2 workshop projects available to join:
The Big Bang Dance workshops and the Discovery Gospel Choir workshops
THE BIG BANG DANCE PROJECT
This is a 5 week community dance, drumming and choral workshop programme led by Catherine Young Dance and Big Bang Festival, and produced by IMC. These performance workshops will then culminate in a performance at Hotter than July festival on Sunday 29th July 2018.
This project welcomes Ireland's new communities, their cultures, music, dances and songs and shows that it truly takes a village, it takes all of us, the entire community to create a better society for all.
Location: Dance House, Foley St, Dublin 1
Dates: June 16th, June 23rd, July 7th, July 14th, July 21st
Dress rehearsal: July 28th at DanceHouse
Performance: July 29th in Smithfield Square
Participation is FREE (but participants must commit to attending at least 5 of the 6 rehearsals)

DISCOVERY GOSPEL CHOIR
Ireland’s leading multicultural choir Discovery Gospel Choir have joined forces with Hotter Than July to offer a series of Discovery CHORAL WORKSHOPS in advance of Hotter Than July, singing upbeat, traditional songs from around the world, culminating in a performance on the 29th July.
