David Duffy Quartet are a unique ensemble made up of four players on the fringes of Jazz, each with a distinctive approach to the genre. David Duffy, Double Bass (IRE), Tom Hodge, Piano (UK), Emil Nerstrand (SWE) and Davie Ryan, Drums (IRE) are all diverse, non critical, creative musicians, free of genre and hierarchy to genres, allowing the quartet to explore everything from ambient electronic jazz with a distinctively Scandinavian sound, to intense compound time signatures, blurring the lines between contemporary classical, jazz, electronica and post rock.

This sound soon began attracting attention and led to the first ever commission by Cork Jazz Festival for a new work, to open the 2018 festival, in the stunning Live At St Lukes, Ireland's 2018 Munster venue of the year.

With over a decade of experience in the digital arts it was natural David would combine these skill sets with the commission, and "Unity" was born. Working with Barcelona based visual artist Jan Barcelo, David created a through composed, 1 hour, immersive audio visual experience, using narrative, 4k projections, lighting and visuals, that takes the audience on an experience that explores concepts of altered states, birth and meaning.

As a composer his shows have headlined both international and national festivals such as Cork Film Festival, Cork Midsummer Festival, HOP Festival, Sonar, and Dublin Fringe.
