Bop 5

The Bop 5 credo is bop in general, and Charlie Parker, Horace Silver and Kenny Dorham in particular. Led from the front by French tenor saxophonist Patrice Brun with Danny Healy on trumpet, the quintet explore the two horn and rhythm format that yielded so many of bop’s highest achievements, and are quietly amassing a reputation for idiomatic authenticity in the process. Australian guitarist Markus Schwaiger further bolsters the quintet’s bop credentials with strong tasteful lines, with bassist Tom Prior and drummer Daniel Jacobson taking care of the requisite rhythmic ingredients.
