Boston – Dublin Direct VI

Tempus fugit. This is our 6th edition of this encounter between Irish and US musicians which coincides with Berklee College of Music’s annual visit. Over four days at Newpark Music Centre in Blackrock, leading members of Berklee’s world renowned faculty host masterclasses and workshops for young musicians from Ireland and abroad, many of who will be auditioning for valuable scholarships to Boston's unique school for jazz and related music. Berklee's staff is drawn from the highest echelons of performing artists and as with previous visits, Dublin will get a chance to hear some of them in full flight. In addition to returning guitarist Rick Peckham, whose gritty style now has many Irish admirers, its your opportunity to hear the gifted Latin inflected pianist Alain Mallet, whose prodigious resume includes ECM recordings with Marc Johnson and membership of the current Paul Simon Band. Drummer Conor Guilfoyle heads a contingent of this city’s finest jazz and Latin players for this enticing encounter with Boston’s best.
