Jamie Oehlers & The Guilfoyle/Nielsen Trio

If you caught the Kai Big Band at the conclusion of IMCs recent Open Day, you’ll have been curious as to the identity of a certain tenor player, an unfamiliar face for Dublin audiences. His name is Jamie Oehlers, one of Australia’s finest jazz musicians, and recently relocated to the northern hemisphere – West Cork to be precise.

A powerful and creative tenor player in the post-Coltrane lineage, Oehlers has a prodigious technique put to the service of long fluid lines, supported by an exhaustive command of harmonic vocabulary. A complete saxophonist in every sense, don’t miss his debut at The Pendulum, with potent rhythmic support from The Guilfoyle/Nielsen Trio.
