Jesse Van Ruller

With his quicksilver phrasing and footloose imagination, Amsterdam's Jesse Van Ruller is carving his own impression on the rock face of the great instrumental tradition of straight-ahead jazz guitar. Its been happening since the mid 90's, when he became the first European winner of the prestigious Thelonious Monk Prize, drawing effusive praise from a jury that included Jim Hall, John Scofield and Pat Metheny, with whom Van Ruller performed in duo at 2003's North Sea Festival, no small measure of his evolution over the last decade.

In his small group albums for Crisscross, Van Ruller brings a deep appreciation for the history of the jazz guitar, and his own perspective on where it might be headed. He makes his Irish debut bolstered by our finest musicians, with saxophonist Micheal Buckley, drummer Sean Carpio and bassist Dave Redmond.
