Joe O’Callaghan’s Free Play

Limerick’s Joe O'Callaghan is a genuine force in Irish jazz guitar, with extended tasteful lines, contemporary chord shapes and an instinct for rocking out when the need arises. Though he is a Pendulum regular with groups like Métier and Microclimate, this is his debut at the helm, and Freeplay is in his favoured guitar trio format. Joining him are electric bassist Derek Whyte and drummer Phil McMullan and as the name implies, this will be an excursion into both free and structured terrain spurred by original compositions from O’Callaghan.
