Pendulum- Karl Rooney Quartet

Munster’s finest in the guise of Cork tenor Karl Rooney and Limerick guitarist Joe O’Callaghan feature in this quartet that reflects the enduring appeal of Charles Mingus and in particular his influence on modal and free playing. Joined by bassist Cormac O’Brien and drummer Sean Carpio, the quartet set about the great bassist’s repertoire with gusto, recasting Jelly Roll, Gunslinging Bird, Boogie Stop Shuffle and other gems of the extensive Mingus canon, with new arrangements and grooves that are reconciled with the innate blues and gospel character of Mingus’ music.
