Culture Night - Late Night Jazz at The Complex

Improvised Music Company (IMC) welcomes you to a diverse and exciting programme of late night jazz at The Complex as part of CultureNight.
Acts include Tudo Bem, OKO and the Jazzabelles.

Tudo Bem - 9:00pm
Stylistically diverse, rhythmically sophisticated, and with a bountiful supply of great composers, Brazil is a musical hothouse! Tudo Bem explore the repertoire of Hermeto Pascoal, Tom Jobim, Antonio Adolfo and Caetano Veloso via the grooves of samba, partido alto, bossa nova and more. Led by bassist Ronan Guilfoyle with an all-star group of jazz instrumentalists and vocalists, this band are bound to bring the groove into your Culture Night.

Sing for Culture Night with Amy Ryan - 9:50pm
Be part of the Culture Night show and join in some spontaneous group music-making with vocalist and conductor Amy Ryan, playing games with voices. No experience required, no nightingales necessary, all voices welcome!

OKO - 10:00pm
Instrumental. Improvised. Electronic. Three words that hint at what to expect with this band, but the live full sonic experience is not to be missed. With sounds that shift from lush synth-drenched sculptures to tight hooks and loose grooves, robust turntable scratching and liberated improvising, OKO's music is quite the ride.

Jazzabelles Jam Session in The Cooler -10:45pm - Midnight
Musicians of all levels are welcome to join house band the Jazzabelles for a late night jam session in IMC's intimate new space for jazz, The Cooler @ The Complex. Bustling with energy and a passion for live music, all-female band Jazzabelles showcase jazz, blues standards in their own unique style while allowing plenty of scope for improvisation, and inviting new players to the stage. Whether you've wanted to join in your first jazz jam and need the right environment, or if you're an old-hand, the Jazzabelles create a comfortable and welcoming space to have fun with like-minded musicians!
