Ludovico Einaudi - Solo Piano
Spiegeltent Monday 6th October 8pm €15
"Einaudi's music is finely crafted, pared down and strongly melodic." Gramophone
To listen to Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi's beautiful piano music is to take a voyage through a delicate, emotional and gently melancholic creativity. You can hear many echoes in Einaudi's music, from the piano pieces of Chopin and Satie to Phillip Glass and Michael Nyman, alongside African and American popular music, all informed by a fluent, minimalist approach.
Over the years his works have evolved but not parted from their original characteristics, nurturing new colours and a vital energy. He has composed for film, TV and dance and his music has been performed at La Scala in Milan, New York's Lincoln Center and the Tanglewood Festival. Einaudi's new CD 'I Giorni' features colourful solo ballads for piano and was largely inspired on hearing the kora playing of Toumani Diabate while travelling in Mali.
