Marco Kegel Quartet (feat. Simon Rigter)

The traffic in Irish musicians to The Hague's Royal Conservatory is now asserting itself on the domestic jazz scene, and bassist Johnny Daly's lengthy Dutch residency bears out the validity of the connections that this fine institution often incubates. He's back in Dublin as member of a Dutch working group led by alto saxophonist Marco Kegel, himself a Hague alumni, and like guitarist Dan Nicholas, drummer Rene Winter and tenor sax player Simon Rigter, Kegal is an unapologetic devotee of the classic bop idiom, with hard swinging intensity and harmonic agility in abundance.
