Mike Nielsen Accoustic Trio

In jazz, the small group has consistently yielded its most creative milestones, and here, Mike Nielsen convenes some eloquent voices from both sides of The Irish Sea, together to explore the power of three. Belfast’s Steve Davis has distilled an eclectic array of music into his individual approach to the drummer’s role, as much textural as rhythmic, and drawn from his formative experiences with leading UK musicians like Django Bates and Mathew Bourne.

For his part, bassist Steve Watts is a consistent presence in the UK's most creative jazz outposts, a mainstay of groups led by Steve Arguelles, Martin Speake, Billy Jenkins and others and, as anyone who'se heard in full flight of late will attest, Mike Nielsen continues to expand the guitar’s vocabulary in his inimitable, wholly original way.
