Pendulum- Double Bill: Trilogue & Lupo

Double Bill: Trilogue & Lupo

The spirit of renewal is alive and well with these two brand new projects from the creative end of the musical spectrum, deferred until now due to the big snow in early January. Lupo are singers Sarah Buechi and Lauren Kinsella, who’ve just completed their debut CD, Sessile Oak. This is a venturesome duo, drawn to taut compositions that embrace extended vocal and improv techniques and polarities of volume, pitch and timbre. With Trilogue, bassist Ronan Guilfoyle brings his broad compositional experience in the classical and jazz world to bear in an improvising chamber group with Japanese pianist Izumi Kimura and Sarah Buechi. The lines between jazz and contemporary composed music are increasingly fractured and Trilogue explore the cracks, embracing a range of textures, moods and dynamics outside the vocabulary of either genre, implying a music reflective of the times in which we live.
