Rhythm Method

Five stalwarts of the Dublin music scene collaborate in a project that focuses on original writing. The compositional duties are evenly distributed throughout the band, reflecting the different creative personalities at work here, and readily identifiable cues are drawn from the expansive improv of Wayne Shorter, the minimalism of Steve Reich and atonal terrain of Julius Hemphill. Bassist Cormac O’Brien and drummer Shane O’Donovan are the nominal rhythm section in a band where everyone shoulders responsibility for the right groove, joined by pianist Darragh O’Kelly, guitarist Shane Latimer and trumpeter Bill Blackmore.
