Pendulum - TalkShow Trio

Saxophonist Cathal Roche enlists the very creative Scottish drummer Stu Richie and bassist Dan Bodwell in this trio that exploits the traditional bass/drums/sax formation to intriguing ends. Compositions are based around speech transcriptions, a fertile area of exploration for Roche that has included performances with the Van Brugh String Quartet and a commission at the Sligo New Music Festival. Following their participation in a double trio performing new music by Ian Wilson, TalkShow Trio will be taking a looser approach in JJ's, with improvisations that explore the tonal nuances of the speaking voice, while Richie will also be using a set of 36 quarter-tone tubular bells made by Roche especially for the these concerts.
