Third time lucky for this double bill, which has previous fallen victim to ash clouds and snowstorms! Lupo are singers Sarah Buechi and Lauren Kinsella, who’ve just completed their debut CD, Sessile Oak. This is a venturesome duo, drawn to taut compositions that embrace extended vocal and improv techniques and polarities of volume, pitch and timbre. With Trilogue, bassist Ronan Guilfoyle brings his broad compositional experience in the classical and jazz world to bear in an improvising chamber group with Japanese pianist Izumi Kimura and Sarah Buechi. The lines between jazz and contemporary composed music are increasingly fractured and Trilogue explore the cracks, embracing a range of textures, moods and dynamics outside the vocabulary of either genre.
