Richard Nelson

Richard Nelson boasts an impressive musical resume, but not in an area usually associated with jazz. He's much in demand in country circles, the spiritual home of his chosen instrument, the pedal steel guitar.

However, his debut cd Moments Notice shifts any perceptions about its application in a jazz context. That recording featured Irish jazz musicians of the calibre of fellow guitarist Hugh Buckley, bassist Dave Redmond and drummer Kevin Brady, reunited here for an evening of Coltrane, Shorter, Monk and Gershwin, heard here on this most resonant of instruments.
