Ruben “Chivo” Gonzalez

Vintage alto saxophonist Ruben Gonzalez is a very established personality in the Argentine jazz scene both on the bandstand and on the radio airwaves.

You might have also spotted him on Irish telly, as featured in The Living Bridge, the recent RTE documentary on the Buckley jazz clan. In November 2006, he hosted an Argentinean visit by guitarist Hugh Buckely and saxophonist Richie Buckley that culminated in a memorable performance at the Jazz Festival of Rosario, Argentina's second city and spiritual home to the tango.

One good turn deserves another, and the Buckleys reciprocate with Dublin hospitality of their own, and an evening of swinging music in the company of leading Irish players.
