Toy Tunes - The Music of Wayne Shorter - Pendulum

For four decades, the compositions of saxophonist Wayne Shorter have provided fertile yet challenging ground for the improvising musician, with melodies that range from the elegant to the muscular, always underpinned by the sinuous harmony that lies at the heart of this composer's unique musical landscape. His approach has covered blues-informed compositions for Art Blakey, complex and daring material written for the Miles Davis Quintet and his own groups of the '60s, and the landmark jazz funk of Weather Report. Pianist Phil Ware steps out of his familiar trio role to convene a quintet in homage to the Shorter canon and joining him are Paul Williamson (trumpet), Peter Dobai (saxophone), Ronan Guilfoyle (bass) and Sean Carpio (drums).
