Trí60 No.5: Zoe Conway, Nikola Parov, Francesco Turrisi & Tiarnan Ó Duinnchinn
Dundalk fiddler Zoe Conway found her feet in Riverdance and has subsequently been the traditional fiddler of choice for orchestral projects with composer Bill Whelan and the Irish Chamber Orchestra. Budapest’s Nikola Parov has a rich talent, effortlessly moving between Bulgarian instruments like the gadulka and kaval, and is known to Irish audiences through his work with Donal Lunny and Andy Irvine. With bands like Tarab, Italian pianist Francesco Turrisi has made a real impression in Ireland, bringing a fresh perspective from a background in baroque harpsichord, jazz piano and the Moorish dance forms of Southern Italy.
The final addition to this wonderful mix is uileann piper Tiarnan Ó Duinchinn and his unrivalled knowledge of Irish piping.
Trí60 is an exciting collaboration between Improvised Music Company and Conor Byrne, cultivating the fertile ground of traditional music in Ireland and Europe. It’s a 2-year project, now entering its second phase. This event on November 3rd will be the 5th instalment of the project.
