Join Gerry Godley as he leads a fascinating discussion with a brilliant array of musicians from across the globe.

This 2-hour event will feature Ross Daly (lyra), Jonas Knutsson (saxophone), Eoin Dillon (Uileann Pipes) and Robbie Harris (percussion) as they discuss their influences, styles and experiences in a cultural exchange. The artists will have been collaborating for several days in advance of the discussion, so they will share their insights on that unique workshop experience. There will also be a question and answer session when the floor will be open to the audience.

Although of Irish descent, Ross Daly does not really fit into any particular ethnic stereotype given that his life has been spent in many different parts of the world and his home for the last 35 years is the island of Crete in Greece. His playing led him to the great modal traditions of the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Indian Subcontinent where he finally found the musical archetypes that he had been searching for all his life.

Swedish saxophone maestro Jonas Knutsson has, along with all his other musical projects in jazz and world music, studied Swedish folk music since the eighties from many different sources; old fiddlers and other musicians as well as from notations and old recordings.

A founder of the globetrotting co-op that is Kila, Eoin Dillon is no stranger to the collaborative spirit of Trí60, be it with African stars like Baaba Maal or the Ainu musicians of Japan. Supplemental to his indispensable role in Kila’s aural signature, a brace of solo albums have revealed an uileann piper with a vibrant style and an ear for witty original tunes, drawing on his deep connection to traditional music which started with a pipe making apprenticeship on Tory Island.

Robbie Harris is a bodhrán player and percussionist. Over the years he has recorded and performed with artists such as: Bobby McFerrin, Clannad, Bob Geldof, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Celtic Woman, The High Kings, Emer Mayock, Steve Cooney, Brian Kennedy and world music artists such as, Hector Zazou, Theodosii Spassov, Pedram Khavar Zamini, Mamady Keita and Dhoad Gypsies of Rajasthan.
