Weide Trio- Pendulum, Dublin

It’s a Pendulum first for Weide Trio, a voice-led project from Lauren Kinsella, a young singer to watch on the Irish scene. Though still immersed in both jazz and classical vocal training, a strong appetite for creativity is already in evidence here, with music that’s informed by the tradition of Sarah Vaughan, the artful pop of Radiohead and the new frontiers of Vijay Ayer. Reflecting the flux within contemporary jazz singing as it embraces new terrain like non-syllabic language, Weide Trio challenges existing conventions about the role of the singer, and Kinsella is joined by stalwarts Simon Roth (drums), James Little (bass), and special guest Justin Carroll (keys).
