Yoi-Tang! Pendulum

The name is Korean, a colloquialism that roughly translates as lets go!, and its an apt description for the creative aspirations of So-Young Yoon, a recent Newpark jazz graduate and a strong prospect in both piano and composition. À la Wayne Shorter, her music is melodically direct, harmonically attractive and with plenty of space for musicians to impose their improvisational character on. Doing just that are the young Dublin saxophonist Alex Mathias, trombonist Colm O’Hara and a rhythm section that convinces in bassist Derek Whyte and drummer Shane O’Donovan.
