Improvised Music Company and Ballina Arts Centre are delighted to welcome jazz guitarist and educator Chris Guilfoyle as he begins his NAVIGATOR residency programme in Ballina.

The latest edition of the 14-day Navigator Jazz Residency programme, which kicked off last week, offers jazz and improvising musicians professionally remunerated time and space to develop and perform work, while building creative and professional relationships in new locations.

A founding member of the Dublin Jazz Co-op collective and an active player on the Irish jazz scene, Chris also leads his own group Umbra, an acclaimed quintet featuring some of the most promising musicians in Ireland, which has toured extensively in Ireland and Europe.

The NAVIGATOR residency programme is part of IMC's commitment to further develop the national scene for jazz and improvised music, improve artist touring mobility, develop audiences nationwide, and develop creative opportunities and fruitful new relationships for musicians.

The four regional partners in the Navigator jazz residency programme are The Source Arts Centre, Co. Tipperary The Courthouse, Co. Wicklow, and Ballina Arts Centre in Co. Mayo.
