Two part-time freelance roles available with Jazz Promotion Network

Jazz Promotion Network is seeking to fill 2 new part-time freelance positions, for a Network Manager and a Communications Manager. These are remote working positions, and available to anyone with appropriate qualifications and skills. What is Jazz Promotion Network?

The Jazz Promotion Network is a body aiming to advance and support professional development, information exchange and partnership opportunities for the UK & Irish jazz industry, artists and audiences. Their membership includes more than 80 organisations from across the U.K. and Ireland. Improvised Music Company is a long-standing member of JPN, and IMC Artistic Director Kenneth Killeen sits on the voluntary board of JPN.

Having received funding from Arts Council England in 2020, JPN seeks to employ 2 part-time freelance staff members to deliver their 2020 programme of activities. These projects will include workforce training, training for promoters, producers and venues, and university-led research on current and potential jazz audiences. Jazz Promotion Network will also be a part of the delivery of the joint UK and Ireland stand at major trade show jazzahead! Their continuing work also includes their annual conference, which will be held in Belfast from 25-26 June 2020.


Role 1: Network Manager

Network Manager is a part-time, freelance, 2.5 day/week role.

The duties of the role will include:

  • Managing and supporting the Workforce Development Programme and working with partners on projects including the JPN conference, jazzahead!, Attitude is Everything project, Audience Research Project.
  • JPN Membership management including all membership administration and seeking new members.
  • Board and Company administration
  • Financial administration including funding applications and budget management among other elements.
  • Staff management
  • Attending other meetings and events as required.

This post is ideal for someone with very strong communication and management skills, a good knowledge of the jazz scene in the U.K. and Ireland, a track record in working in the arts, and experience with social media and website management.

Role 2: Communications Manager

Communications Manager is a part-time, freelance, 1.5 day/week role.

Duties of this role will include:

  • Developing the JPN marketing and communications strategy
  • Developing and maintaining the JPN website
  • Creating the monthly JPN newsletter, and strategizing around engagement
  • Running JPN’s social media
  • Marketing/PR plans for all JPN projects including producing artwork, social media advertising, press releases, updating international partners
  • Liaising on JPN rebranding consultancy
  • Managing marketing budget in collaboration with Network Manager
  • Attending major events to coordinate media and ensure coverage

This post is ideal for someone with experience in marketing and PR in similar fields, an interest in jazz in the UK and abroad, and an ability to work unsupervised, but also as part of a team.
