With your help and support we can do even more work to develop great new musical experiences for you to enjoy, help support artists, and make the musical world in Ireland a richer place.

IMC’s mission is to nurture and grow the scene for jazz and improvised music in Ireland, support the development of artistic achievement for Irish and Irish-based musicians by advocating for them both at home and abroad, and to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of jazz and related music in Ireland.

Any donation you can make could help us to commission a fantastic new piece of music, to develop an opportunity for a musician, to bring a first experience of jazz to schoolchildren, or many more things. Any amount of once-off donation or is a big help to us, or you can learn more about becoming a Friend of Improvised Music Company below.

Friends of IMC

IMC Friends help us to commission fantastic new pieces of music, to develop opportunities for musicians, to bring first experiences of jazz to schoolchildren, and many more things.

As a Friend of Improvised Music Company, your gift can:

  • Bring brand new works into existence through our commissioning awards.
  • Empower young musicians to explore improvisation and express themselves through music, with our Jazz Camp for Girls and Fun Size Jazz programmes
  • Give musicians space and time to create and rehearse new albums and recordings in our Artist Hub space.
  • Connect musicians with communities to workshop, create, facilitate and perform in our Hotter than July and other festivals.
  • Give a musician a unique space and time to develop and create new work with close local connections in our Navigator residency series.
  • Give mentorship and career development opportunities to musicians, helping them to create sustainable and rewarding artistic lives, through our Jazz Connector programme
  • Facilitate artists to create special improvised music and workshops for children in disadvantaged schools.
  • Bring outstanding international artists to Ireland to perform, collaborate, and coach.

Why do we need your help to support and develop jazz and improvised music in Ireland?

We believe in the power of expression, creativity, and connection.

We believe that music has the power to inspire, provoke, and bring people together.

We believe that everyone’s lives can be enriched by music.

We believe in inclusivity, and the possibility for a rich world of Irish improvised music that is welcoming to people with a diversity of experiences and needs, and of all ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.

We believe in the value of creativity that is spontaneous, exciting, and exists in the moment.

We believe that everyone can be creative, and can bring something special to the world.

We believe that everyone is musical.

We know that life can be difficult in many ways, and we believe that creativity, connection, and music can help to deal with that.

We believe that some things turn out best when you improvise.
