Edel Meade is an award-winning singer, composer and lyricist based in Dublin, Ireland. She is widely regarded as one of the most gifted young Irish musicians to emerge in recent years. Her debut album is set to be released in 2014.

Edel has been disarming audiences in Ireland, New York and Chicago since 2005. As well as possessing a stunningly beautiful voice, she is renowned for her captivating stage presence and effortless charm. Edel is equally comfortable singing classic jazz standards, music by songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Carole King as well as her original songs.

Performance highlights include the launch of The Gathering (Ireland), the Down With Jazz Festival, Bray Jazz Festival, the National Concert Hall, Dublin, a live studio performance on RTÉ Radio 1 as well as being featured on RTÉ Six One News.

Edel has been awarded scholarships to attend Souza Lima Conservatory (Brazil), the New York Voices Vocal Jazz Camp, the Sligo Jazz Project and has attended masterclasses with Bobby McFerrin, Jon Hendricks, Sheila Jordan and Norma Winstone among others.

Her original songs are performed by Honor Heffernan (Ireland), Sheila Jordan (USA) and the Roberto Danobeitia group (Chile).

In addition, Edel works extensively as a teacher and has been invited to present her unique ‘Demystifying Jazz Singing’ program at Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, NUI Maynooth and as an 8-week workshop series at the Centre For Creative Practices, Dublin. She is a highly sought after vocal coach and she has composed and arranged music for gospel choirs and small vocal ensembles around Ireland.
