Described by JAZZIZ (USA), the world’s largest jazz magazine, as one of Ireland’s leading vocal jazz talents, Stella Bass has been a cornerstone of the Irish jazz scene for almost two decades. She is widely respected for her artistry as an interpreter of The Great American Songbook.

Stella’s music studies began age five with piano accordion, but by her late teens, her focus shifted to vocal and piano studies. Following the release of her debut album, she completed a Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance at TU Dublin. Her 2024 album, Look for the Silver Lining, was on the ballot at the 67th Grammy Awards in the Jazz Album category, and she is a Grammy Voting Member of the Recording Academy (NY Chapter).

A compelling concert performer with a deep love of storytelling, Stella has created and collaborated on a wide range of shows. These include “Stella Sings Ella”, a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, which sold out two shows at the 2025 Cork Jazz Festival, “A Little (Jazz) Night Music”, exploring jazz interpretations of Stephen Sondheim’s music, and most recently, “Let’s Misbehave: The Essential Cole Porter Songbook”.

Away from touring, Stella leads her own quartet, appearing at venues and festivals across Ireland and the UK.
