Job Opportunities with Improvised Music Company

Improvised Music Company (IMC) is currently seeking candidates for 3 exciting new roles to facilitate expansion and excellence in its broad areas of work. Having recently devised a comprehensive 5-year strategy and expanded its Board of Directors, IMC is currently developing and implementing a suite of new events, musician supports, and artist development opportunities.

IMC is a not-for-profit resource and promotions company for jazz and creative improvised music in Ireland. We operate across a wide range of areas, from locally-based artist development programmes to major pan-European festivals, with public-facing and artist-facing programmes of activity, including many events which are key dates in the Irish and European arts calendars. Working with peers including Europe Jazz Network, Music Alliance Ireland, and Irish Jazz Forum, we are at the forefront of creative improvised music in Ireland, working with artists in genres from cutting-edge contemporary jazz to rich traditions of world music, and including community and youth-focused arts.

A role with IMC is ideal for persons with a passion for music, strong practical skills and a willingness to develop and learn in a variety of circumstances. Working with us currently involves both regular remote work and on-site work at a variety of dynamic events. As part of a small team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced colleagues and peers, and to lead on a variety of projects. Working with IMC is an opportunity to engage with and support a dynamic area of the Irish arts scene into its best possible future.

Production Coordinator

If logistics, stage management and production are your thing, this could be the perfect role for you! IMC are currently seeking an experienced Production Coordinator to deliver a wide variety of performance and associated programmes. This is a part-time role (3 days per week). However, a full-time role is possible should a suitable candidate be additionally proficient in artist development and community engagement as outlined in our Artist Development Officer role (see below).

Production Co-ordinator role specifications

Artist Development Officer

IMC is committed to developing career opportunities for Irish jazz and creative improvising musicians both in Ireland and abroad. We are looking for a part-time officer to engage with the various arts communities to deliver and expand on our development programmes. This is a part-time role (2 days per week), however, there is potential for a full-time position by folding in either production coordinator or communications officer duties provided the candidate has suitable experience.

Artist Development Officer role specifications

Communications Officer

IMC is currently developing and implementing a suite of exciting new events, artist opportunities, and professional development initiatives, and is seeking a communications officer to join our team. Working with the Marketing Director and General Manager in areas including social media, PR, industry communications, website etc., this is a part-time role (3 days per week). However, it can be combined with the Production Coordinator or Artist Development Officer roles for a suitable candidate with demonstrable aptitude in these areas. Relevant arts experience is an essential requirement for this position.
