Open Call - The Signal Series: New Directions in Irish Jazz

As part of IMC’s commitment to celebrating Irish jazz talent in 2019, we are thrilled to introduce a new monthly live event, ‘The Signal Series’, focused on showcasing the best emerging and established Irish jazz and improvised music acts from across the country.

To guarantee a fresh and diverse programme, we are seeking submissions from jazz and improvising musicians and ensembles from all over Ireland to perform at this series in 2019, showcasing the very best of the vibrant jazz scene that exists in this country.

Each month we will present a live double-bill showcasing the very best of the diverse and vibrant Irish jazz scene from across Ireland. The first 2 showcases took place in February and March in the The Wild Duck and featured a stunning lineup of artists from around the country including Sue Rynhart, Ben Castle Quartet, Oxygen Thief feat. Aleka and Kevin Lawlor Quintet.

On April 30th, International Jazz Day, we will showcase 2 fantastic acts in The Wild Duck when ReDiviDeR and The Aoife Doyle Band take to the stage.

We will continue our open call to all musicians across the country. It is our intention to help reinvigorate the domestic jazz/improvised music scene and to build a sense of community among the musicians we showcase & their peers.

We want to ensure that musicians from all over Ireland are given equal opportunity to apply to perform, so we would be extremely grateful if you could share this news with local musicians to help us grow ‘The Signal Series’ and collectively raise the profile of Irish jazz talent.

Musicians can apply to perform at The Signal Series by filling out this form.
