Ariel Hernandez Quintet

In the three years he’s been an Irish resident, Buenos Aires native Ariel Hernandez has become a charismatic ambassador for Argentine folk music, most eloquently in duo with accordionist Dermot Dunne. But there’s another facet to this outstanding guitarist, and its one that will resonate with jazz aficionados. With this new project, he delves into the treasure trove of Argentinian grooves like the Tango, Milonga, Chacarera and Huayno, refashioning them as vehicles for improvisation in the contemporary jazz idiom, with a formidable quintet featuring Sean Og (soprano sax), Kelan Walsh (tenor & baritone sax), Ronan Guilfoyle (bass) and Conor Guilfoyle (drums).
