Claire Daly Quartet - Pendulum

Claire Daly’s Songs of Love and Mischief

Kilkenny singer Claire Daly made her move to Edinburgh in 2003, and her adopted city has taken her very much to heart. These days, she’s hailed as an exciting new voice on the Scottish jazz scene, and noted for her fresh approach to the jazz vocal repertoire, with standards plucked from obscurity, vocalese readings of music of Wayne Shorter, and a linguistic mobility that embraces songs in Italian, Portuguese and Irish. Her latest project takes a wry, mischievous swipe at the love song canon and recent appearances include London’s Pizza Express, an important proving ground for vocal talent. She’s back at The Pendulum with a band that include BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year and ex-Empirical pianist Kit Downes, drummer Nelide Bandello and Dublin bassist Cormac O’Brien.
