Cormac Kenevey Quartet - European Jazz Nights

Nasjonal Jazzscene Oslo

presents

European Jazz Nights at Victoria, Oslo

featuring

Ireland's

Cormac Kenevey Quartet

Singer Cormac Kenevey is his own man, both as a perceptive interpreter of the jazz standard, and a lyricist with a keen eye for the quirks and contradictions of the contemporary world he inhabits. There is maturity and wit in everything he does and no short regard for the artists whom he cites as major influences. Mel Torme, Mark Murphy and Jon Hendricks are prominent in his long list of heroes. He is also a devotee of vocalese, the art of putting lyrics to great instrumental solos. His critical acclaim from such far-flung corners as London, Mexico City and Dubai confirm his working group’s ability to impress an audience with both entertaining and astute performances. Cormac has recorded two albums with the renowned Candid Records in London.

Cormac Kenevey (vocals), Johnny Taylor (piano), Dave Redmond (bass), Kevin Brady (drums).
