Córas Trio at Kirkos
‘…absolutely special and totally unusual!’
— Caoimhe Ní Chathail, BBC Radio Ulster
Doors: 8:30pm/Music 9:00pm
Location: Kirkos, 1 Little Green Street, Dublin 7.
Córas Trio reinvent the spontaneous. Traditional melodies weave in and out of compelling textures that foreground fiddle, guitar and percussion with transcendental electronics; suspending elements of collective free improvisation with proper seisiún style playfulness.
Córas Trio are part of a new creative wave of musicians based in Belfast exploring how traditional music relates to the experience of the 21st century. Challenging ideas of cultural purism, they sweep the lines of contemporary musical practice, unafraid and unapologetic in their exploration of new ideas.
Since emerging on the scene, they have supported experimental folk heavyweights Aidan O’Rourke & Brìghde Chaimbeul, as well as Joshua Burnside. Their music has featured at the ‘IF 2022’ improvisation festival in Canada alongside Evelyn Glennie and William Parker; the London Jazz Festival (2023); the Horizons stage at WOMEX (2024); the Eurojazz Festival (2025); and Other Voices (2025) in Dingle, Ireland.
‘Subverting audiences’ expectations of traditional music’ — Kate Molleson, BBC Radio 3
