Dumbshow
Hands in the air for The Dumbshow, three adventurous musicians on the Irish jazz scene with a collective yen for the wide open spaces of free improvisation. Over the last two years, they’ve been developing their own vocabulary, using free improv, chance and graphic scores, and drawing stimulus from other creative disciplines, like painting and its approach to textures and linear information. From the Irish perspective at least, the harvest is potentially great, and the labourers in this case are Shane Latimer on guitar, prepared and otherwise, Seán Óg on soprano sax, bass clarinet and electronics and drummer Michael Harding.
