English Acoustic Collective - Kilkenny

“Compelling, sinewy stuff ... anyone who cherishes musical adventure with a firm grounding will be enthralled” — BBC Music
The English Acoustic Collective have won countless hearts and minds with their raw and passionate explorations of England’s folk music, old and new. Ghosts, their evocative release of 2004, was for many a revelation of the poignant songs within the English folk canon, so often spirited and defiant chronicles of a life that resonates deeply with our own experiences. Quietly and without drama, EAC have taken centre stage in England’s reappraisal of its trove of vernacular music, and The Irish Times described them as “precisely the kick in the ribs that English folk music needed”. Fittingly, The collective brings together three innate storytellers in Rob Harbron, John Dipper and renaissance man Chris Wood, a regular visitor to Ireland for always highly anticipated solo concerts, and also University of Limerick where he’s an occasional faculty member.
Tickets for each of these intimate salon concerts are free but limited and are awarded by lottery. Please visit www.salonmusic.ie to apply online.
The Salon Music Series is curated and produced by the Improvised Music Company on behalf of the Office of Public Works.
