Francesco Turrisi’s Tarab

A consummate jazzman in the modern European vein, Dublin based pianist Francesco Turrisi is also immersed in early music, most notably as harpsichordist with the highly regarded French ensemble L’Arpegiatta. Concurrently, in recent years he’s been researching the percussion traditions of Southern Italy and the Arabic world and in the process, shaping a very personal and coherent style. Joining him in this captivating dialogue between east and west are Iranian percussionist Bijan Chemirani, Irish bassist Ronan Guilfoyle, German oud virtuoso Roman Bunka and the celebrated Italian clarinettist Gabrielle Mirabassi.
