Guilfoyle/Nielsen Trio - Pendulum

You can’t keep a good band down, and with a four year hiatus since their last performance, guitarist Mike Nielsen and the brothers Guilfoyle are ready again to purvey their blisteringly intense, rhythmically subversive approach to the Broadway standard.The volatile chemistry in this trio is undeniable, creating a collective intensity and brawn that few Irish groups before or since have matched, and developed over formative musical experiences together that go back two decades.At their most active in the 90s, they toured and recorded extensively, performing with luminaries like Dave Liebman, Sonny Fortune, Larry Coryell, Kenny Werner, Joe Lovano, Conrad Herwig and Pat LaBarbara, often giving masterclasses in the pioneering approaches they developed. The impact of those rhythmic evolutions can be heard in a generation of new Irish jazz talent. Clearly, they themselves are not quite ready to bow out yet, and be ready for one of the most invigorating experiences Irish jazz has to offer.
