Hugh Buckley’s Sketches of Now

The subject of a recent RTE documentary along with his saxophone playing cousins, the timing seems fortuitous for Hugh Buckley to release a third CD, and The Irish Time says "Sketches Of Now album may be the best example of his fluent, songlike, lyrical guitar playing, and of his gift for composing attractive material". It follows previous releases Yes Indeed and Spirit Level, and finds the unassuming guitarist in increasingly soulful mode. To that end, he's recruited Justin Carroll on keys, along with Ciaran Wilde (alto), Michael Buckley (tenor), Dave Redmond (bass) and Shane O'Donovan (drums), and this muscular line up join a true bedrock of the Dublin jazz scene, and one of its finest guitarists.
