Jazz Connector Jan 7th: Developing a Music Career Strategy for 2021 with Matt Fripp
Continuing our Jazz Connector online meet-ups with a focus on career development, IMC would like to invite the Irish music community to come together for an interactive presentation, Q&A session and chat on Thursday January 7th from 1:30 - 3:00PM.
The topic at hand is:
Developing a Music Career Strategy for 2021 with Jazzfuel's Matt Fripp
We’ll be joined by musician, agent & manager Matt Fripp. After graduating with a jazz degree from the Guildhall School of Music, Matt started working as a booking agent and manager, first during 6 years at a London-based agency and then with his own company, booking more than 2,000 international gigs to date.
Alongside his booking and management work, he runs the website Jazzfuel which works with musicians around the world on areas such as releasing albums, getting gigs and growing an audience. You can find out more about this work via the free articles, guides and interviews at Jazzfuel.com.
With 2021 still uncertain in terms of touring and gigging, we’ll look at some of the areas that are within your control when it comes to building your career and growing your fanbase.
We’ll talk about:
- The value of singles and pre-orders
- DIY press outreach
- How to make progress with playlisting on Spotify
- Mailing lists: how & why these are important for fan-connections
- Facebook: how & why you need to be producing engaging content
- Website: your online ‘hub’ and what it should include
Creating Engaging Video Content
- How to set up premieres of pre-recorded videos
- Tips for live-streaming content
Guest speakers will be expressing their own personal views and will not necessarily be speaking on behalf of their various companies/employers.
If you missed out on any of our previous meetups, you can read all of the talking points that were discussed here.
