Jim Hart Quartet

London jazz has been greatly invigorated in recent years, and here comes a quartet of potent emerging voices, including Waterford born bassist Michael Coady, now firmly established on the UK scene.

Its led by vibraphonist Jim Hart , a musician who’s equally at home on drums and piano, all of which informs the taut balance of contemporary
rhythmic and harmonic motifs that characterize his memorable, ambitious compositions.

These nuances are teased out by Coady’s authoritative bass, drummer Tom Skinner, at 25 already a veteran of groups with Soweto Kinch, Dani Siciliano and Denys Baptiste, and they’re joined by alto saxophonist Ivo Neame, described by The Guardian as “stealthy, suggesting the tantalising build-ups of the late Art Pepper.” The quartet is part of the recently formed LOOP Collective, a London based organisation promoting original improvised music.
