"Pensive yet urgent, the music seemed to reflect on of the outstanding characteristics of Taylor's playing, his remarkable ability to be simultaneously assertive and yet infinitely delicate. His powers of invention, too are extraordinary."
- The Guardian

This year long exploration of the jazz piano trio tradition draws to a fitting conclusion with one of Europe's most significant, yet understated masters of the instrument in England's John Taylor. In a career spanning three decades, his poised, elegant playing has placed him in the highest echelons of European jazz, collaborating with musicians like Jan Garbarek, Miraslav Vitous and John Surman, and the seminal trio Azimuth, one of the most imaginatively conceived and finely balanced chamber groups to emerge in contemporary jazz. Revered as a singer's accompanist, Taylor is a supremely gifted soloist and composer in his own right, as evidenced by Rosslyn, his latest trio release for ECM, and in bassist Anders Jormin and drummer Martin France, he has an empathic rhythmic context for his nuanced, pastoral artistry.
