New Band, New Year, same great room for listening to creative music. Pianist Justin Carroll ushers in 2008 with an aptly titled gathering that makes its first appearance, includes established players like bassist Simon Jermyn and drummer Sean Carpio, and introduces a potent voice for the future in young tenor saxophonist Matthew Halpin. Togetherness is a collective enterprise with original music devised by all four members, and referencing influences as diverse as Skuli Sverrisson and Jaki Byard.
