Métier - Pendulum

Métier’s international star is on the rise with recent shows at London Jazz Festival, where they shared a double bill with Tomasz Stanko in the prestigious QEH, and they’re also just back from Oslo’s European Jazz Nights Festival. As DLR Jazz Ensemble in Residence, Métier is the first Irish group of its kind here, following similar initiatives around Ireland in classical music, and the investment has paid dividends as the group evolves into the most potent live act here in many years. Cascade, Métier’s first CD, is an impressive affair, and with a line up that convenes five of the strongest musicians in Ireland today to play their own compositions, Métier is a potent assembly of Michael Buckley (saxophones), Joe O’Callaghan (guitar), Justin Carroll (piano) and Sean Carpio (drums). They join the project’s leader, bassist Ronan Guilfoyle, in a quintet that bristles with creative purpose.
