Rebecca Martin's music is more modest in scale, but no less resonant. This artfully understated singer occupies her own terrain somewhere equidistant between Joni Mitchell and Norah Jones, and this adopted New Yorker works with the cream of that city's musicians, who are drawn to the soulful jazz sensibility evident in her songwriting.
