Its back to the Pendulum for this recently formed quartet led by drummer Matt Jacobsen, demonstrating that his brother Daniel isn't the only with the compositional smarts. The formula here is downtown grooves, quirky melodies and collective improv informed by such eclectic sources as Tim Berne, Charles Mingus, Vijay Iyer, Marc Ducret, , Phil Ivey and Squarepusher. Jacobsen, one of Dublin’s most exciting young drummers, has been studying in Lucerne the last year and checking out what hes been up to in the interim in this “two horns, no chords” set up are alto saxophonist Nick Roth, trombonist Colm O’Hara and bassist Derek Whyte.
