Sarah Büchi Dublin

This young Swiss singer and teacher has much to share with her students in Newpark Music Centre over the 08/09 academic year. After studying in Lucerne, the last two years sabbatical were spent immersing herself in South Indian classical music at Bangalore's famed Karnatic College, and the results are apparent in her use of its demanding rhythmic and vocal techniques in an orthodox jazz context. With Swiss groups like Thali, she's already making inroads in bridging the two traditions to create an arresting fusion of styles, and has been working with creative musicians like Kenny Wolleson and Nils Wogram. Joining her for a Dublin debut are Mike Nielsen and Shane Latimer on guitar, Andrew Csibi (bass) and Conor Guilfoyle (drums)
