One of the major highlights of our recent Made on Mondays series, Savage Monkey is the vehicle for the harmonically deft, always melodic compositions of Melbourne trumpeter Paul Williamson, who continues to illuminate the Irish jazz scene with intelligent, lyrical and expansive playing. A trio of Dublin’s finest musicians in pianist Justin Carroll, bassist Ronan Guilfoyle and drummer Matt Jacobson join forces with Williamson in a musical environment that favours space and openness, spontaneity and interaction.
