Launching their eponymous debut CD

"This very promising new band can swing with straight-ahead ease” Kevin Stevens, JMI (Bray Jazz Festival Review 2008)

"Perhaps the most impressive bands were ... Justin Carroll's Togetherness" Ray Comiskey, The Irish Times (12 Points! Festival 2008)

Justin Carroll – Piano/ Composition | Michael Buckley – Tenor Sax |Simon Jermyn – Electric Bass | Seán Carpio – Drums

Togetherness are a stellar quartet whose players will be familiar to anyone with a keen eye on the Dublin jazz scene. The launch of their debut album “Togetherness” is an introduction to a relatively new Irish group with real creative intent. The album was recorded over two days at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin with sound engineer Thomas Schmidt, and to be released by Livingroom Project.

Setting aside the Hammond B3 and returning to the piano has stimulated some exemplary small group writing from Justin Carroll, characterized by shifts in meter, and performed by musicians who clearly enjoy unpicking his rhythmic knots. As well as being involved in a number of interesting projects in the past few years, Justin has performed with a wide range of exceptional artists including Jason Rigby, Greg Osby and Ronnie Cuber. He also plays organ with Ireland's premier organ trio Organics.

Tenor saxophonist Michael Buckley, who has toured extensively with the likes of Dave Liebman, the Mingus Big Band, John Abercrombie, and Lee Konitz now seems to have few impediments to melodic expression every time he plays.

Word is spreading fast in the global jazz community about Seán Carpio. This exceptionally gifted drummer is in great demand currently touring with the likes of Mikkel Ploug’s Group featuring Mark Turner and Sebastien / Henri Texier.

After just finishing as one of the highlights of 12 Points! 2009, this time with the outfit Morla, Simon Jermyn is evolving a brilliantly innovative and very personal concept of the electric bass. Jermyn works in numerous combinations between electric bass, guitar and baritone guitar. His own project Trot A Mouse recently released on the Fresh Sound label was recorded in New York with an outstanding three piece horn section of Chris Speed, Loren Stillman and Joachim Badenhorst.

Join Togetherness in the Button Factory for the launch of their eponymous debut (CD included in the ticket price!) and witness one of the most promising jazz outfits the island has produced.
